Dining Table
2026.4.1

The dining table was custom-designed to harmonize with the overall architecture of this Miyakonojo residence. Through the renovation, the dining, living, and kitchen areas were integrated at the heart of the home, creating a unified space connected by a doma (earthen floor). By incorporating the original kure-en (inner veranda), we created an expansive area that allows for a large-scale table—something that wouldn’t have been possible in the home’s original Japanese-style rooms.

The table is positioned to catch the soft, reflected light from the gravel and doma, shielded by deep southern eaves. To emphasize this delicate gradation of light, the table was crafted from a single slab of solid Rosewood, featuring a “saw-cut” finish that leaves the raw texture of the wood grain visible.
